The restoration process

Shepherd’s Huts are restored to their former glory after a careful assessment of their history, so that as much of the original character can be retained as possible. Where new materials are essential, they are sourced with great care so as to provide the best possible match to the original, and worked with original techniques which have stood the test of time. The attention to detail even extends to the choice of nails for the floorboards! The blend of new and old is balanced to apply just the right qualities to the finished restoration. Lastly, as farming methods changed over time, the Shepherd’s Hut has gradually disappeared from the landscape, so those original, intact examples are few and far between today. They are indeed an investment of my time and expertise and your money and enjoyment.
